I've just about finished all the mods to our FJ Cruiser. In the last couple of days, I've mostly been packing it – but there are a couple of finishing touches I've done as well:
|
License plate holder and winch access cover. The license plate holder also serves to cover up the fairlead for the winch, and helps protect the synthetic winch line from the sunlight (as does the access cover). “Slightly Loony” is what we've named our offroad chariot. People we meet who see our license plate often think we're named "Sigma" and have 6 kids. We do not :) A “sigma” is a mathematics reference; one sigma is one standard deviation from normal on the bell curve – so 8 sigmas is eight standard deviations from normal. Even if you're not familiar with the math, you can understand this: anything that's eight standard deviations from normal is really, really, weird. That's us! |

A view from above. The access cover is made of plywood. The license plate holder is an aluminum billet holder, mounted on thick-wall stainless steel standoffs, with bolts tightened into threaded holes in the steel bumper... |

We also added an aluminum billet license plate holder to the rear, and that beautiful hitch receiver cover. My lovely bride painted that cover, which is solid steel... |
