Niall Ferguson is a historian and author who has written several books I've greatly enjoyed (especially his The Ascent of Money). Apparently he made some comments about John Maynard Keynes a few days ago that greatly offended some people, and he has apologized publicly for them. I haven't heard or read the remarks, so I don't know what the kerfuffle is all about. The apology, however, stands out from the usual for what it doesn't have: any attempt to evade responsibility.
Our politicians could learn a few lessons from Mr. Ferguson. Sanford, Weiner, Bloomberg, et al – I'm looking at you!
