Cat Troubles...in the 1400s...

At right is a 15th century manuscript with unmistakeable feline paw prints on it, in ink.  The cat must have walked over the page while the ink was still wet, no doubt frustrating the heck out of the scribe.

Below is another example of cats messing with scribe's heads – and this one decided to curse the cat in writing (translated from the original Latin):
Here is nothing missing, but a cat urinated on this during a certain night. Cursed be the pesty cat that urinated over this book during the night in Deventer and because of it many others [other cats] too. And beware well not to leave open books at night where cats can come.

All cat lovers will instantly identify with these :)  Owning cats most definitely has its rewards, but not all is purring and affection...
