Scott Walker's convincing win last night fills me with hope. We shouldn't read too much into it, really – there are many persuasive arguments one could put forward about the special nature of the Wisconsin contest. But even knowing this, I can't help myself – an American electorate that voted for Obama in 2008 just voted against Big Labor and for sober, business-like, common-sense austerity measures. That's hopeful! It's enough to make me dance in the streets.
Let's hope this sobriety continues through November!
