For any geek working in a company run by non-geeks (decidedly not the case at my employer, ServiceNow – but true of some of my former employers), it's a common occurrence to have some suit ask or tell you to do something utterly stupid – and obvious to any other geek. If you're interested in keeping your job, you swallow, count to 10, and try to come up with some civil response. But what you really want to do is this:
