Just got back in from taking the dogs for a walk, at 4 am. There's a full moon high in our clear southwestern sky, and it is very bright. I could easily see colors – not only bright colors in close objects (like the dog's leashes), but also on the hills several miles away. The bright moonlight lit up Cajon Mountain, some 15 miles away; its light-colored granite faces were clearly visible. The skies were relatively haze-free – I could still make out major constellations, the Pleiades, etc.
The dogs seemed to enjoy the moonlight, too – they were straining at their leashes for our entire morning walk...
