The folks at Blogger (a Google product) host many, many blogs, including this one. A goodly proportion of those blogs often post photos or other images. I'm not sure how many images get posted each day, but it must be tens of thousands.
Someone at Blogger had the brilliant idea of creating an unending slide show from these images. They did a bang-up job of it, too – you can vary the rate at which the images are changed, you can choose whether or not to show the associated text, and you can even click to go visit the blog that posted an image you see. I found this site to be strangely addictive. Some of the images are very beautiful; some are puzzling; many are entertaining in various ways. In a half hour of watching them, I was compelled to go visit a dozen or so new blogs I'd never heard of, and several of them are now on my read list.
Give it a try!

Brrrr!
Today I turned on the heater in our house, for the first time this season. I was sitting in our livingroom, trying to type on my laptop, when it dawned on me that my fingers were stiff from cold – it was 52°F in the house!
You can see from the red temperature line on the graph at right that the temperature has been dropping for the past few days. Last night it got below 45°F for the first time this season, which explains the chilly house.
Tomorrow, sadly, the forecast calls for Santa Ana winds. Not only will that bring wind, but also heat and dry air – and fire danger conditions…
