I called 211 last night and they were extremely helpful and kind over the phone. The operator asked me my zip code and then proceeded to give me all the info he knew straight from the officials in the Jamul/Lyons Valley Area. He said that by Friday morning its reported that folks in "greater Jamul" (where's that?) will mostly likely be allowed to return home but may not have any water or electricity at this time. That's good news for all of Jamul sounds like it will be a matter of time for us all.
I would recommend you come to the briefing at 10 am ths morning at Steele Canyon. The firemen and Diane Jacobs come and tell us just what is going on twice daily. Last night's briefing painted a rather serious situation yet. The battle was quite intense yesterday, especially mid day, trying to hold the line, which they mostly did. During the night would be key and they are talking of positioning engines now past Lawson Valley (Loveland Lake area) as the next defense. And they evacuated two more areas. So, yes, there is good news, but the battle is not over. They say we are evacuated at least two more days if all goes well. Mild Santa Anas expected to return Sunday.
It's 11:45pm and I'm seeing what I think might be a few flames?
