Sixty-four years ago today, on December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy made a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, just outside of Honolulu, Hawai’i. The attack killed 2,471 Americans (2,403 military and 68 civilians). It was a complete success for Japan from a tactical perspective; a disaster from a strategic perspective.
Today we remember… We remember our country’s great loss, and we remember the strength and resiliency our parents' generation showed in the face of evil and adversity.
And I hope that their descendants — the Americans of today — can do the same with respect to the evil and adversity we face today from terrorists like Al Qaida…
